The Faculty of Literature and Humanities of Herat University was established in 1988 at the same time as the establishment of Herat University. In fact, this faculty is the first faculty of this university. From the time of its establishment until now, the faculties of fine arts, journalism and social sciences were faculties that were separated from the body of this faculty and became independent. Currently, this college has five departments: Dari Persian language and literature, Pashto language and literature, Arabic language and literature, English language and literature, and German language and literature. Also, the first master program of Herat University is related to this faculty in the field of Dari Persian language and literature. Currently, nearly a thousand people are studying in this faculty in day, night and master's departments.
