Maligrad or Mali grad (Albanian: Maligrad) is an island in the Albanian part of Lake Prespa. The island consists of a high plateau with numerous caves suitable for wildlife. A small town is the smaller of the two islands in Lake Prespa - the other large town is significantly larger. The church is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God and has undergone many changes over time, which are mentioned in the three preserved inscriptions. The oldest inscription is from 1345 and is located in the apse. It talks about the first patrons of the temple - Boyko and his wife Evdokia. The second inscription is located north of the top of the west door, above the images of Saints Constantine and Helena. It speaks of the temple's restorers, the Serbian nobleman Kesar Novak, his wife Kalia, son Amiral and daughter Maria and dates from 1369. The third inscription is from 1607, when the outer facade was re-painted with the composition The Last Judgment. The church has frescoes and Greek inscriptions dating from 1369. There are frescoes of Novak's family with his wife - the Greek Kalia. The painters of the church are from the Kostur Art School, from the second half of the 14th century.
