Tomb of Skanderbeg

The first Skanderbeg's Mausoleum Selimiye Mosque (Skanderbeg's Burial or Church of Mosque and Selimi) in Lezha. For the evaluation of Skanderbeg's funeral cathedral, a memorial was set up, which had as a central idea the attention and highlight of historical values, through a new construction handled by a column in which the original parts of the century were preserved. XV-te. The first construction phase belongs to the XIV century. The second phase is the cathedral of the century. XV. The third stage of the cathedral turns into mosque during the XVII-XVIII centuries. The monument's restoration works brought to light the original traces of the XV century. Inside the monument was the bust of Skanderbeg as well as a series of objects that evoke the works of the hero. To symbolize the tomb of the hero near the center of the church were placed copies of the memorial and sword of Skanderbeg according to the originals that are preserved in Vienna. During the restoration works on the important values ​​it was presented, it was decided to restore the monument to the second phase of construction. In 1981, complete restoration of the church was completed.
