Hostel Gjika

Pros - location. Cons - unclean environment (see photo), poor internet, property in disrepair, poor circulation in bathroom, unprofessional manager (son of owner) - he regularly sounded like he was arguing with people throughout the day, no supply of shampoo or body wash - just an old looking bar of soap, no breakfast even though it was advertised that it came with it and lastly trying to charge €5 for use of the washing machine! This property could be great. It’s a large building, with decent sized rooms. But it’s clearly lacking good management and investment. Needs a complete makeover and better management. Shame, but I definitely wouldn’t stay again.

We had two fantastic nights in Sarandë, hosted by the lovely "Mama". She cooked us a delicious local breakfast and was only too happy to help make our stay comfortable. Great views of the sea and the city! Has got to be the best value accommodation in town!

Spent ten nights in this place and the best things are the breakfast and the views from the top floor terrace (or if you have a room with the balcony). The breakfast have been amazing and different every day. The host cooks really well and served us a combination of traditional food (stuffed peppers/aubergines) and the classic breakfast like eggs & toasties. The rooms are a bit boring and it wouldn’t hurt if they applied a fresh coat of paint and did a bit of maintenance.

The room is basic but clean and comfortable. The ocean view at the balcony is the best part of this place. If their breakfast menu add some fresh local produces such as fruits, that would be great and there will be more satisfaction for guests.

Dont follow google maps if you come with a car. Great view, super location, low price, super tasty breakfast byrek with wild mint and very good attitude. Bathroom was a bit strange but the overall experience was satisfying.
