This monument stands in tribute to the founding of the Austrian Republic following the Central Powers in World War One. The monument consists of three busts for the historically important Social Democrats responsible for its founding and each resting on a pedestal. The politicians depicted are Reumann, Adler and Hanusch.

Nice monument in a small park in between city hall and parliament

The monument was inaugurated on November 12, 1928, the tenth birthday of the Republic of Austria. The republic was the result of three parties: (first and foremost) Social Democrats, (but also) Christian-Social and Greater Germans. In this respect it is a shame that only (albeit highly deserving!) Social Democrats are shown. Every year on November 12th the memorial is decorated.

The Austrian Republic honors its founders - a famous monument in Vienna.

Also called Monument of the Republic, this beautiful bronze representation positioned between the parliament building and the Epstein palace, depicts three famous social-democratic politicians and commemorates the birth of the Austrian Republic in 1918. Definitely very dense with meaning for citizenship, it is certainly a nice monument to visit, but that does not leave you amazed.
