Nice picnic spot behind the church
Beautiful rural church with a cemetery at the back. The church is not always open.
Must have seen, in the outdoor area at Fruedhof the so-called Totentanz is painted in different pictures. The original is located in the interior before you come in the lower area in the Gebeinhaus.
A gem in Elbigenalp! About the exact origin of the church, which is dedicated to St. Nicholas, is no longer known as the center of the original parish "Lechtal" formed, which was first mentioned in documents in 1312.
It got its present appearance in the years 1664-74, when it was rebuilt in baroque style according to the plans of Georg Falger. The altar room and the tall, slender Gothic tower were taken over by the previous church.
