Hami st (08/25/2019)
The construction of a new bell tower was necessary because the "old" was not up to the vibrations of the bell. Peter Hörhager quotes a historical source in his book "Towers in Schwaz", which states that as early as 1558 it was stated that he was damaged and shaken. He also hangs one meter north. In 1904, the tolling of the great bells was banned by decree. This provoked the displeasure of the population and even demonstrations with cowbells were held in the following years. In 1906, the company Klara was commissioned to install a new belfry and it was allowed after completion a "provisional ringing". But since the new bell chair brought no improvement, this was set back on April 1, 1907 and it was decided to build the "New Clock Tower". Finally, in April 1910, the work was awarded and the tower was built according to the plans of Stadtbaumeister Franz Xaver Ruepp. And on the day of the "Maria Conception" of 1911, the sound of the seven-voice bells resounded over the silver city for a long time.
