Really interesting Iron Age archaeological site. Incredibly well preserved and well mapped. There are several signs with some great information about the site as well as the excavations that took place - only negative is that they're in German! Here's the English translation for the sign at the main entrance:
"Here on this hill, the High Birga was discovered in 1937, a significant settlement of the late Iron Age, which was built about 2,300 years ago. After the successful archaeological excavation campaigns of the years 1938 and 1949 to 1956, however, the public space became more and more forgotten, imposing walls fell over and were overgrown by the forest. Therefore, the municipality of Birgitz and the association 'Archaeotop Hohe Birga' had restoration work here and others Excavation campaigns from 2009 to 2011 built an archaeological trail."
Cool
Very interesting but still small, worth seeing and a nice walk across the academy about 1 hour walk from Götzens place to Birga
Very nice
