My family and I had an amazing meal, wonderful conversation with the hosts, and a great tour of the chapel. This wasn't planned on our trip, but we will certainly return here when we are back in the area.
On Sunday, June 21, 2020, I was with my wife and daughter as a long-distance traveler (Taxenbach) at the Sandwirt for lunch and we were doing very well there. Duck leg, kohlrabi soup, wild garlic noodles, ice cream dessert - all excellent and with pleasant service. We will definitely come back and would be happy to recommend.
I would have a suggestion - and I have also noticed with other guests that they would like it: the "menu" is a large chalkboard, which is charmingly carried to the table by the service. There are many fine dishes of the day - but no prices. Guests don't like that very much. In addition, the permanent menu should also always be offered - it is almost "hidden" - because there is also a lot to discover on this.
The location is very well-kept and is located in the center of Maria Saal.
You don't get a menu. Instead, a board with daily specials without a price.
And here is also the biggest drawback: The pricing does not seem authentic and aloof compared to the location.
The quality and taste of the dishes were consistent
Very nice, warm service, delicious, fresh food and the best and cheapest Aperol Spritz that we have drunk so far (and there have been quite a few).
An amazing host! Schmähführer and Volkstribun, who offers a culinary work that is second to none. Today had a piglet leg of indescribable tenderness, nice and juicy and a good portion for an eater. In addition, bacon herb, a blast! And finely seasoned bread dumplings, interspersed with spicy parsley. The whole thing was embedded in a fine dark juice. Rinsed down with two house beers, behind for coffee and iced coffee. The beer was amber-colored, and it tickled down the throat with a maltiness that tickled the palate. The iced coffee with a delicious hint of vanilla and the usual toppings completed the feast with dignity and right. I can highly recommend this place. Anyone present that day witnessed something great. Thanks and appreciation!
