Charming, ok, but way too expensive! We basically slept beside a noisy elevator, got a room that looked like a youth hostel, but paid the price of a 3 or 4 star hotel. I do like atmospheric cozy hotels, but they exaggerate with the price here
Unfortunately one of the worst experiences we’ve had.
Before saying anything, we would like to highlight that the operations staff was nice and professional, the food was good and the vibe of the bar was nice.
However we were very disappointed in the room and the state it was in. For the price of 149EUR/Night, we expected a little bit more quality. Instead the furniture was old and dirty, a minibar from the 60s stood unplugged waiting to be cooled, the shower was a box in the room (like the ones on construction sites) with no ventilation, and no good lighting.
The decoration was from the 70s or early 80s (see pictures) and the electrical circuits looked older than that. The mattress was stuck together with tape. The windows in the bedroom were not isolated, leaving every single sound to be heard from outside especially the driving trucks overnight as well as their headlights.
When we approached the manager to inquire whether we can find a compromise the same evening but we were met with a very defensive attitude. The manager referred to the cancellation policy, did not ask why we were unsatisfied and made it abundantly clear that we made a contract and have to pay the rest of the stay and that they are not responsible for anything. The defensive attitude and response of the manager was: “you should be happy to have gotten a room as we are always fully booked”. Being a hospitality professional myself, I was just shocked and offended of such an abundant lack of customer-oriented professionalism.
Now it would have been ok if we had known what to expect. However the lack of pictures of the rooms on social media, booking platforms and their website, the view and misleading postings of the beautiful lake and public spaces; as well as the high price, led us to believe that we were coming to a 4 or 5 star exclusive family owned Villa. Instead it was more like a hostel.....
We ended up having to pay 418EUR for one unsatisfactory night… nothing short of a scam
used to be our favourite place. still a great spot.however food used to be a lot more enjoyable. and the place is infested by dogs now. pity.
Great experience. Ultimate relaxation destination. The people, the architecture and the interior of Villa Verdin are as delicious as the exquisite daily menu the restaurant offers. We will defenetly come back.
One of the coziest places I have seen so far. Perfect location next to the lake, and the managers Thomas and Gianni go out of their way to make your stay the best experience of the year. Will return for sure.
