Nice statue in the walking area of the city centre. Lovely to walk around and enjoy the scenery

It is a "must be" place in Vienna. Beautiful place for slow summer walk.

One of the three monuments on Grabenstraße in the city centre of Vienna is Josefsbrunnen (Joseph's Fountain) which is located on the west side of the centre Pestsaule (Plague Column). This is a octagonal shaped fountain basin with a statue of St. Joseph in robe with a staff in his right hand. He is peering down and speaking to young boy holding a scroll. The fountain and statue was originally constructed in 1680 by Austrian sculpture Johann Frühwirth. The original stone statue was replaced in 1804 with lead figures by Johann Martin Fischer. It is an interesting and attractive neoclassical configuration, worth having a look if you intend to spend time on Grabenstraße. Note, there is a similar shaped Leopoldsbrunnen (Leopold's Fountain) on the other side of the beautiful Baroque Plague column. These are both worth checking out as well as Josefsbrunnen.
