The former home of 'Blood Countess's, Elizabeth Bathory, now a private residence. Legend has it that monks from across the road at the Augustinerkirche used to throw pots at the building to stop the screaming of her victims.

Complete waste of time, do not bother at all. No plaque or notice of any kind to acknowledge the historical significance of the place. The building was residential or commercial premises so no way to even check it out properly. Avoid.

The history behind this house is terrifying. (Báthory Erzsébet) Elizabeth Báthory was living in this building Báthory and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of young women between 1585 and 1609. Interesting and horrifying fact is, actually there was complaint from Augustinerkirche right in front of this house. But the complaint was about the noise coming from torture not about killings or tortures. Her uncle was a noble man (Stephen Báthory) was fighting against ottomans. So people were afraid doing something against to this woman. She was imprisoned in December 1609 within Čachtice Castle, in Upper Hungary (now Slovakia), and held in solitary confinement in a windowless room until her death five years later.
