What a view and what a gorgeous place for hiking! Note that the last few kilometers to the nature reserve are toll road and even though it's in Austria, you can only access through Germany. Remember to keep to the designated trails and take your trash back with you! Be mindful of the beautiful nature so it will last!

Too touristy . Nice though for kids, they can pet the goats running around in the restaurant yard. But you can have nice walks nearby too ,without paying the street entrAnce fee of around 5€ !

Located in the Austrian part of the Karwendel and only be reached from Germany, the Eng Alm is worth travelling through. We came on bicycle and the route was very rewarding. Drinks and food are available at the Eng Alm, so is accommodation. Camping is not allowed, but there are enough options to camp out of sight.

It is a real natural experience to hike the Ahornboden and the Eng. Even when arriving by car, the eye is drowned in impressions and views of this natural spectacle, especially in autumn when the maple trees look like they are in flames. I can only really recommend EVERYONE who is on holiday here in the region to take a trip to the Eng. There is something for everyone here. Area paths and you can also cope with quite a few meters in altitude, so whether you are a family or a passionate hiker, everyone will find their way here.
