TERE OBRADORS (09/02/2017)
Grinzing located on the outskirts of Vienna is Vienna and I BARS / FOOD / LOCALS / OTHERS / RESTAURANTS Grinzing, the wine district of Vienna BY AIDA · 04/26/2011 Grinzing The pine branch is the sign that the wine is ready Grinzing, the 19th district, is a neighborhood located in the north of Vienna, in the mountains, characterized by its vineyards and its Heurigen. These Heurigen are typical Austrian places where wine grown by the owners of the place is served. Legally, they can only sell wine from their own harvest and only open certain periods of the year, when the wine is about to be drunk. There you can also eat typical Austrian products, such as potato salad, Schnitzel, Goulash ... served by waitresses dressed in dirndls (the typical Austrian costume) while Schrammelmusik, typical Austrian folk music plays. To know that the Heuriger is open, you have to look at the front door: if it has a pine branch hanging, it means that the wine is ready and you can go inside to drink. Not only are there Heurigen in Grinzing, there are also many scattered throughout the rest of the city, but in Grinzing there are neither more nor less than 30, and the atmosphere in them is much more authentic. In Grinzing, apart from the taverns, there is a magnificent view of the rest of the city. Being located on the Cobenzl hill, Vienna appears in all its fullness in front of Grinzing. It is wonderful to see the city from the Wiener Wald, the Vienna forest. Grinzing looks like a small town, with its small houses with gardens and its alleys. And, in fact, it was formerly a separate town from Vienna but, as the city grew, it was incorporated as one more neighborhood.
