In the Wipptal, in the municipality of Obernberg am Brenner, there is probably one of the most beautiful lake chapels - on "Obernberger See" The "Seekapelle Maria am See" is a special place of silence! To reach the chapel, you start at the parking lot at the "Waldesruh" inn Along the forest path - which is a great "floodlit toboggan run" in winter - towards the inn (not managed !!!) Obernberger See. There the path along the lake - where a small hill rises up in the middle of the lake from afar, the lake chapel can already be seen ❤️ The "Roman Catholic Chapel of Our Lady at the Lake" - - also called "Maria am See", is located on a peninsula in the "Obernberger See" As soon as the "wooden arch bridge" is seen in the forest - in the lake - it takes less than 10 minutes to get to the lake chapel, which stands out between the trees. The "Seekapelle Maria am See" was built in 1934/35 on stones from the "Tribulaun" rock fall. At that time, Hans Menardi carried out the planning of the lake chapel and Carl Rieder carried out the very beautiful fresco painting in 1938 The wall of the lake chapel was built from irregular cuboids and this is clearly visible from the outside. A beautiful central building that is very nicely domed gives the lake chapel a small touch. The very simple vault at the entrance is separated from the central building by a very nice wrought iron grille! Good work! 👍 In the middle of the dome there is a beautiful fresco showing the coronation of Mary in an angelic circle. There are also the four evangelists and the frescoes of four saints: - St. Anne - St. Joseph - St. Barbara - St. Francis de Sales! Compliment!
