This former Synagogue was built at the beginning of the 20th century, destroyed by the Nazis, and the town's Jews driven into exile or murdered.
After Kristallnacht ist fell into disrepair.
A few years ago, after painstaking renovation by the provincial government of Lower Austria the building was rededicated as a culture venue.
It is beautiful and certainly worth a visit, if you are in town. There is of course no Jewish community in St. Pölten today.
SHALOM!
The former Jewish History Museum is home to the former synagogue building.
Unfortunately, we were unable to get inside.
A great place, a real historical site
