The drive to is GORGEOUS - rolling meadows, cows ... love it. 6 of us camped for 3 nights in a tent; had SO much space in our campsite, by the lake. Campsites are well spread out. What an absolutely beautiful view of the lake and trees - visibility for star-gazing at night was incredible, saw quite a few shooting stars over the 3 nights. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful - they recommended a gorgeous little waterfall swimming hole only 10 minutes drive away; they also recommended some good hikes nearby. The staff as well were so kind as to offer 2 of their kayaks for our personal use to explore the lake. The toilets were well kept. We don't own a boat but will come back one day with a boat to do some water-skiing :)

Twice we have stayed as a group in one of the Queenslander houses and it was a fantastic experience. The houses were in good country style condition and had plenty of room for everyone. Campsite owners/managers were nice people and very accommodating.nnMaroon dam is a bit smaller than Moogerah, but still great for kayaking and water skiing. It also has a small inlet creek at one end if you want to paddle a bit further. There are some short 4wd drive tracks on site and you can drive to Mt Barney for bush walking and a swim in the creek. Feels like you're completely out of the city.nnTelstra had slightly better reception than Vodaphone and Optus, however all had low to no reception at times.

We just had our family get together (4 days) - first time since 2006. People travelling from WA, NT, VIC, QLD & NSW so we used the houses, cabin & camp grounds. What an awesome time we had. Dave was the perfect host - thank you from everyone Dave. Not one complaint!!! Also thank you Sharon for helping me organise. We give Lake Maroon Camping Grounds the big ud83dudc4d⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent facilities and plenty of room at this large camp ground out in the bush. Popular with boating, fishing and jetskis due to private lake access. A bit more expensive than I would have liked since I don't need showers, and nothing truly amazing about the location, but they've definitely done well to provide you with everything you need.
