Life's Abroad (09/02/2020)
Started our hike from the Paperbark Flats Picnic Area. The journey took us along the Yuddamun Trail before diverting towards Spring Mountain via other sections of hiking trails. The climb up the mountain is easy to follow and gives rewarding views from the peak. Wouldn’t recommend returning to White Rock via the western fire trail as it’s rather dull scenery for the most part. The round trip was just short of 23 km.

We parked at the Thornbill Drive entrance and followed the Google Maps path up to the summit. A very mild hike, and most of the forks in the path lead to the same place, so don't worry about getting lost. There are fun rock formations at the top.

A fantastic hiking Destination that overlooks the Springfield area with views towards Mt Cootha the city, Flinders Peak and the Main Range area. There are number tracks leading from both the Paperbark area via White Rock or via the Springfield and Greenbank areas. There is a steep Ascent too Spring Mountain which for some may prove difficult. There are number of caves dotted around the area which provide interesting viewing.

Take the Yarraman trail from the White Rock car park for a 19km hike to the summit. From there you will see South Ripley valley including the peaks of Flinders-Goolman Conservation reserve, Greater Springfield, Redbank Plains and Brisbane. Have fun exploring the rocky peak and be on the lookout for Lace monitors. The trail is rough with loose gravel and thick sand along the fire trail leading up to Spring Mountain. I suggest taking a mountain bike so you can ride down Daisy's. Check out mtb dirt for mountain bike trail information.
