Extremely unhappy with. Karrakatta’s policies. They removed my grandfathers and grandmothers headstone as part of their “renewal program” or should we just call it the destruction of gravesite program.. None of the 7 surviving children were notified!! Apparently they sent out a letter to the grantee but it was returned to sender. The grantee is deceased!!! No further attempts to inform family was made. My parents went to karrakatta to find my grandparents headstone thrown under a tree😡 and his site now bulldozed. He was a serviceman wounded in action. Now they want to do the same with my maternal grandparents grave which we are trying desperately to save. My maternal grandfather was also a returned serviceman. My grandmothers ashes were only put in the grave in 2011. Both these grandparents have surviving children who have been left distraught by the actions of Karrakatta. I would recommend that you DO NOT entrust your love ones to this heartless cemetery which has shown no respect for our loved ones. RIP

Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful what is being done here. Removal and destruction of headstones, no signs left to remember the past!

This is meant to be your final resting place, a place were your surviving loved ones can visit you. However with the redevelopment program in progress at the cemetery this is not the case. Grave markers are being removed and bundled up under near by trees. Existing graves are becoming non existent as they place 2 more burial plots over them . Existing plots are being walked on no markers or headstones are put back in place instead if your lucky your headstone may end up on a wall somewhere in the grounds and if your not feeling lucky , well, it becomes road base . It is very disheartening place to go to visit. They clearly have no respect for the dead or the living. Shame on you MCB for allowing this .
