Brown Lake

Quiet lake which is great for a swim or a paddle. I was lucky enough to learn how to kayak here as a kid. Last time I went there was quite a bit of rubbish around and an oversized tour bus was hogging the road coming out, but that doesn't detract from what a cool place it is.

Really nice lake, excellent for families. Take your stand up paddle board, kayaks etc as it's a perfect place to use them.nnIf you have a 4WD it's definitely worth continuing around the track (right to the end), as it leads to a private little spot that's very nice and secluded - you can also park pretty close to the water.

The management of brown lake has recently been taken over from the Redlands council by the National parks and wildlife service who are upgrading facilitiesnThe lake is a beautiful perched lake fed by freshwaternThe First Nations people called it BumeiranThe brown colour is the result of melaleuca trees leaching their oils into the water. Some might find the appearance a little off putting initially but once you take the plunge you will be gratefulnIt’s good for all ages but little ones will be in their elementnGood for canoes and floatable devices like Lilos. Power boats are prohibited

Awesome fresh water lake. Accessible by normal car, not only 4WD. The sand on the beach is fine and white. The water is very refreshing and clear. There are picnic table and grill nearby. Perfect location for a picnic and a beach day out.

Nice and kid-friendly lake close to Brisbane. The lake has a reasonably big car park with fairly maintained amenities. During summer and school holidays the lake can get crowded, but it is still toma of fun. The lake is an excellent place to have a swim, paddle-board, kayak and more.nAt night it’s an excellent places to watch stars and you can occasionally see some wild animals such as monitor lizards.
