Worth the 3 hours or more to get to. Some sections of road quite rough. Take care when crossing from red section of road to grey section as the latter have deep ruts and potholes. Good fishing for a small tinny but a risky spot for land based anglers as the long snout long tail short legged aussie terrier inhabitants the river. Facilities are austere but well maintained. Make sure you have adequate fuel as there are no filling places in the area. The camping areas are regularly visited by kangaroos, wallabies and bush turkeys. The local eagles put on a great display as they wend their way along the river. Drive carefully and watch out for careless aussie hoppers.

Nice camping ground with facilities. No swimming at the river (crocs). Place is well maintained and toilets / showers cleaned regularly.

It's an amazing place to be for an Austrian who's used to the cow being the most dangerous thing the country has to offer ;-)nnAnd we've met wonderful people the who became friends regardless the thousands of kilometres between europe and Lakefield

Plenty of space. Good clean facilites and well looked after. Has the main road going through the middle so try to get a spot furthe back to cut down the dust and noise but it didnt really matter as it was a pretty quiet road. Plenty of spots for some fishing. Watch out for crocs. Also, they have cold showers without lights so get in early.
