Take it from a student that was there for the long, wasting 6 years of my life. In grade 1 my teacher said to my mum I had a learning disability and that I should go see a doctor. But, I didn’t have a learning disability and I was fine. That year 1 teacher was horrible to me, it just felt like she would pick on me every day of the year. In year 1 (again) I got put in the red folder for doing the rude finger and I was only SIX YEARS OLD! What six year old would know what a rude finger is and how would they know such thing would exist!? But of course I got punished for something ridiculous and they wouldn’t even let me a chance to explain. Also, in one year a teacher I had for a specific two subjects was the WORST. All she would do was show us a video every lesson and not even explain to us or try to do anything so all the lessons were, “Watch this video and do what’s in the video.” She just didn’t teach us at all.nnSo just hear me out and NEVER put your kid here!

The constant negativity from the staff and the principle over the three and a half years that our boy was there were overwhelming. Corey Kylie in grade 1 was fantastic. Every other teacher my son had were nothing short of useless. No true possession for educating our young. So much so we felt there was no other option but to move our son out of the school. He has now been at another school for 4 weeks and in that time his mental well-being his academic ability and his general demeanor have improved dramatically. We are now ankle to see the true potential of our sons skills and we are amazed. He is now a happy little boy and loving school. You have to be worried when an 8 year old says he wants to change schools. West Balcatta was such a bad experience for my son and us as parents we were completely shocked. Our son was bullied and nothing was done for 6 months. They have no skills in dealing with individual differences and challenges from child to child. Completely failed at differentiating curriculum to cater for individual differences which is an actual priority dictated by the syllabus and the current educational mandate. I'm sure there are great public primary schools out there. This is not one of them.
