Just want to say a big thank you to Debra at Imperial Settlements for the terrific service she gave us in completing the settlement on our house sale. We had called a few agents before hearing about Debra but hadn’t felt right about any of them. Then a friend suggested Imperial Settlements and from the first phone call we felt we were in safe hands. Debra was really helpful and warm in her approach (and the fee more attractive). And at our first meeting we knew we’d made the right choice. Debra is clearly very knowledgeable and efficient and made sure all our documents were in order well ahead of the settlement date. What really impressed us was that she took the time to explain everything in everyday language and made us feel at ease about asking all the questions we wanted. And we had a few laughs along the way. Thanks again Debra.

Poor service with errors in the Transfer document which were not corrected. Poor communication and lack of clarity around what documents were required and then pressure when deadlines approached. As my house sale was following a personal crisis, she made things even harder by complaining and passing on confidential information to the other party. Debra’s response to this review that the transfer document was replaced and that it was the other party’s errors is a misrepresentation. Debra posted the Transfer to me herself without checking it’s accuracy before sending it to me. Checking documents against the title prior to registering them at is standard industry best practice required by all settlement agents involved in the process. She refused to correct the error in the Transfer document. When I asked her why, she said the document was no longer needed and that she was going to do it online anyway. This was after she initially rushed me to sign the document and post it back. Why bother, if it was not strictly necessary in the first place? I also note that emails sent to Debra in confidence were copied to the other party, against my request not to do so, and to my detriment.
