My partner and I have been taking our cars to Rob for over 3 years, and we love the professional service they provide. The team is very friendly, they have a great customer service, and they are on time. Even when they are busy they make an effort to fit our services in when it's urgent. The work done was OK, though I thought 3.5 hours labour to drain a fuel tank, flush it, replace a fuel filter and put some fuel in was excessive, but you can never win those arguments. The reason I am downgrading my assessment is because a labour rate of $115 per hour. I questioned it, but it was confirmed that is what they charge. I searched the internet for the average rate in NSW and it is $80. The rate is so excessive, I would never recommend them to anyone.

Ballina automotive was recommended to me by my father as he runs a business and took all their vehicles there. I went in for a simple oil change/check-up and instead was left paying $500 for my car to be undriveable. After dropping my car off I was called back and they suggested they perform a coolant flush as well for an extra $150. I told them if it was really necessary then to do so. I picked up my car and not even after 10 minutes of driving I had coolant and engine warnings on my dash. I pulled over and checked the coolant bottle and it was absolutely empty. I called back at least 5 times with no answer. I luckily had some water in my car and topped it up with that to make it home. Once I had stopped at home I could hear bubbling sounds from the front of the car. This happened on a Friday so I was unable to use my car the entire weekend until I took it to a local mechanic which solved the problems. I then returned to Ballina Automotive to speak to them about this situation as they hadn't answered my calls previously.nI was told that it was not their fault, but instead my cars fault as the heater wouldn't work properly. (Interesting as the second mechanic we took it to solved the problem easily.)nI expected some sort of compensation for this however I did not even receive an apology, the blame was just shifted onto me as the customer.nAfter my experience with Ballina Automotive I of course will not return and the same goes to my father with his business cars. I recommend finding somebody else instead.
