We always go to Ebb and Flow for dinner when we're in town. The steaks are really superb. Don't think I've ever had a bad meal there, and I've had plenty.nGreat location, beautiful view, simple uncomplicated menu, quality food.

The breakfast was not very appealing (very oily) and the customer service was definitely poor - I walked into the restaurant (while the door was open and the signage was displayed outside) at 06:59 AM, and I was confronted with an abrupt tone of “yes sir” instead of a warm welcome or a simple greeting by the chef. Subsequently I was not even offered to have a seat. On the contrary, I was told that “we are not quite open yet”.nnThe restaurant was meant to open at 07:00 AM for business. If the chef was not ready for business, what was the point to open the door and have the displayed signage outside? Also it would be more reasonable to offer me a seat since I was only “ONE minute” earlier than his “grant opening”!!

It's an absolute shame, with a dearth of high end eating establishments in Bateman's Bay, this restaurant had so much potential. Starting with the excellent location, the waterfront aspect makes for a romantic date spot. Unfortunately, the romantic undertones of this restaurant fall less towards the 'Casanova' and more towards the 'Cold Fish'.nnLiterally, the Cold Fish. The fish of the day, presumably whatever import was on special at Woolworths that day, was served lukewarm and overcooked. A thoroughly unenjoyable meal.nnThe surf and turf was SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS. At that price, you'd expect quality. Unfortunately, when I asked for medium rare, the chef had somehow managed to serve a steak perfectly pink on the inside, but actually cooked well done. Come on guys, you could do better by buying a $20 steak from the pub across the road and pretending you cooked it yourself. Furthermore putting a dent in the chef's capabilities, was the option to have the steak served on a sizzle plate. In other words, a self overcooking steak. Who are they trying to kid?nnService was slow, taking over an hour from ordering to receive your meal on a Saturday night. The free consolation wine from the owner's guilty conscience, however, was appreciated.
