The best day ever! We've booked the spa at the hotel few hours before our early dinner booking! The welcoming at the reception was very warm and helpful! Afterwards we headed to the bar of the hotel for some bubbles before dinner! The venue it's just breathtaking and the service and food was excellent!! As we were celebrating my Partner's birthday and our anniversary they've organised a nice surprise for dessert! We will definitely come back and perhaps stay at the hotel for couples of night!!

Darleys deserves a 2/5 for masquerading as a fine dining restaurant, average food and average service. On entry to Darleys, the decor has a feeling of refinement and sets the expectation for a great experience, but that’s where it stopped. For entre we had crispy pork belly and spanner crab. The pork belly was braised then deep fried resulting in a dry and not crispy morsel. The spanner crab was tasteless. For main we had toothfish and wagyu tenderloin. The toothfish was dry and underwhelming. The beef was certainly not a mbs9+ piece, and lacked seasoning. For dessert we had the gelato and poached pear. The poached pear was a disappointing 1cm high disc of pear, and lacked any wow factor. The gelato was actually delicious and the only meal deserving of a fine dining label. The service was good when it was there, but often the room was empty of wait staff leaving long wait times between simple requests. The meals were average, and might even be considered good if it did not have the fine dining label attached. The taste of the meals, and service was certainly not deserving of the price tag.

Beautiful old building, but very stuffy. More tailored to an older clientele or someone craving fine dining from 10 years ago. A nice meal doesn't need to be held in near silence. Was the food worth it? Maybe. I've certainly had better for the price. Crispy pork belly was more of a sad soft, the pate needed a crisp or something (I don't know that many people who can just snarf a blob of pate..)
