Croker Island

A rare untouched place in Australia. If you get the chance— visit, if not for anything, the sunsets and beach. Please show respect to the land and locals.

If you ever get a chance to do a spot of fishing on the Western side of this magnificent island then get ready for a seafood buffet! Being able to fish the pristine tropical waters up here is a real bucket list item. The local fishermen only have to spend a couple of hours on the water before the boats too full to stay out any longer! It's a bit of a drive from here across the inland section to the community of Minjilang, but this is the only place where you can get groceries. The community was almost wiped out during Cyclone Monica, but reconstruction has made the community stronger in not only the buildings but in spirit as well. If you are lucky, you might be able to pick up a beer cooler stating 'you don't have to be a president to get blown by Monica!' Friendly locals make the stay even more memorable.
