Bad experience with Genuine Legal WA. I’ve made more progress in my matter since being self represented. At the initial consultation Emily was very confident. On the morning of the initial hearing Emily was also confident and told me that she didn’t think the magistrate would change anything. Very quickly she changed her tune and pushed me towards making a deal that she assured me would just be a four week trial. 11 months later there has been no change. Since becoming self represented I have discovered that more than likely orders would not have been made on that day and Emily steered me toward something which meant I lost time with my child. Emily ignored my requests for her to get information from the opposition lawyer about psychologist appointments for my child that were raised in the courtroom that I was not aware of. Emily allowed the opposition lawyer to talk down to me and insult me outside the courtroom and advised me to do something that cost me more money. I’ve since asked both Emily and The practice manager Andrea a general question about the day Emily represented me and I was told they couldn’t answer unless a new cost agreement was entered into. Avoid. Since posting this review and reading Andreas response I have attempted to contact her as she suggested. I have had no response at all. My recollection of events was that Emily advised me that there was a real chance that I would risk losing all access to my child (she told me she knows fathers that haven’t seen their kids for ten years.) if I didn’t agree to the deal. I now know that orders like this would most likely not have been made on that day. It’s an emotional issue and Emilys comments made me feel like giving up time with my child would be the best thing to do. She also told me that it was going to be a four week trial. Here I am 13 months later in the same situation. As for following my instructions that is completely incorrect. I gave Emily instructions which were completely ignored. Emily did nothing to stick up for me when the opposition lawyer was talking down to me outside the courtroom, instead she was on her phone.

Very appreciative of the 1 hour free consultation service over the phone. Hayden was professional and answered all my questions. Gave me an idea of costings for various scenarios. I had simple questions to be answered that a local lawyer wanted over $500 per hour just to see me. Will definitely see them when I'm closer to sorting my matter.

Would like to thank Genuine legal and all there staff for the help and patience in a difficult prolonged settlement. They gave me quoted price costs for various stages of litigation and kept to them despite extended cost involved to them. I found them to be very friendly, responsive and easy to deal with online and would recommend them for what in my case was family law settlement of Assets.
