Laksa House (Warung Ibu Amye)

Reserve a table as #Laksa House can get popular, and for very good reasons. #charcoal #chicken is enough for two, has a delicious rich sauce and comes with a small bowl of rice and salad ($25). The #beef #laksa is thick, rich, a little sweet and spicy ($14), enough for two. Laksa House staff are efficient, busy and well organised. Service is prompt. The owner Ibu Amye is genuine and friendly. Great for a date or just company with exciting flavours.

Amy the owner and head chef is well known in Darwin for her Laksa ... so order one for sure. Otherwise the menu is scant. It’s (as close to) an authentic Indonesian Warung in Darwin. Location is strange but the people still come. Amy is a well known Darwin character. I would visit here for the experience but it’s not your location for entertaining. Food is value for money.

A must if you are visiting Darwin.nWe had a delicious Laksa and Bakso.nIf you are as lucky as us the lovely Amye might have time to sit and chat and tell you about the origins of her recipes.nHer laksa is a totally traditional recipe, and the Bakso is apparently a 'love soup' that young couples in East Timor have together when going on dates.nAmye even gave us a taste of her incredible satay which means we now have to go back to try her Nasi goreng and satay before we leave.nBe sure to get in early as she only makes very small batches and when it's g o new it's gone.

The food is always good here and consistently has some of the best laksa in Darwin.
