Holy Cross Church

Awesome PP and community. I worship at MQP parish, which is a much smaller and very much community minded parish where we even notice if someone is not at mass, and enquire how they are when we see them again. Visitors and new members are welcomed with open arms. We love this whole parish community, and Fr. Bob Harwood is a powerful and energetic leader.

Beautiful & unusual architecturally. Very peaceful. Attendees are very friendly & helpful. Plenty of parking.

One of the most aesthetically pleasing churches on the Redcliffe peninsula. On the outside, it’s most telling feature is that it’s a round building. Inside its beauty lies in its simplicity. The seating, in polished wood, is arranged in semi-circles around the alter and looks highly attractive. For the comfort of its parishioners the church is air conditioned, with nothing on the ceiling except inconspicuous small bulbs. For most of its visibility the church depends on natural light, with clear glass windows looking out on trees and bushes outside. Apart from the Stations of the Cross which are hung high on the walls, there is little decoration or statutory, except for the figure of Christ Hanging on the Cross above the alter. It dominates the church in both its beauty and in the way it has been positioned, seemingly floating in the air. The church is well attended – both by the young and the more mature – as well as drawn from a variety of different cultures. Both the parishioners and the church officials are very welcoming.
