Ouch - well actually I've been keeping this place a secret - so I can get what I want there, and it isn't all shopped out, by other people. Ah well - now that I'm cornered, I'll have to tell it as it is. I used to buy my fruit & veggies at the local farmers' market, until the COVID shutdown last year put an end to that. So I decided to try Gilberts. And I'm absolute hooked on the place. They have EVERYTHING I want, in the way of fruit & veggies - all well chosen, and supporting local WA growers wherever possible.nAnd an interesting range of cheeses - jams - condiments - nuts - pasta. All sorts of things! Small goods, and a range of chicken & meat.nIf you are a supporter, a portion of your checkout price is also donated to WA schools.nAnd the staff are delightful.nThere's also an IGA over the other side of South Street, if you want groceries. UPDATE - oops - there ISN'T an IGA store there any longer - Coles has killed it, so they can relocate there while their store in the Woolstores building in Fremantle is being rebuilt. Leaving the owner of the IGA store with nothing - after he spent 12 years building up his business. Coles should be ashamed of themselves!
