Ian Shann provides an affordable family dispute mediation service, which for some can be a highly emotional and difficult time. I found Ian to be very personable and focused on trying to help keep my situation, more particularly the situation of my children, out of the Family Court. I would suggest that if people have a genuine desire to use a mediator to keep their situation out of the Family Court, Ian will bend over backwards to help. But, both parties including their respective lawyers if they choose to use one, have to help Ian to help each other. Thank you Ian for your involvement in my Family situation. May I suggest however you should promote your book “Know where You Stand” more or even provide it as induction material, I found it easy to read, understand and very informative.

We had as good of experience as could be expected during a separation/ divorce . Ian got us in quickly , was very informative with the facts and we were able to settle amicably without lawyers within 2-3 hours . I would definitely recommended using this service if you are going though a separation !

Can’t even tick the right box, made it out that I simply didn’t turn up or made an attempt to give reason! I stated why I was unable to attend mediation due to domestic violence (via email) this man can not be trusted to be “neutral” with both parties.

I believe the advice given was very male centric. However apart from that which is very subjective, it was a very unprofessional service and legal service recommended was terrible. Our second (and last meeting) with Ian was held in a coffee shop down the road because apparently he had double booked - doesn’t he have an office??? Sorry not professional to discuss our life and future in a coffee shop alfresco area. There were errors/omissions in the preparation of the documents and we had a relatively straightforward separation- no kids or debt involved. It has taken 6 months for what should have been quite straightforward. He told us it would only take 4-5 days in family court once lodged - wrong again. Four weeks for a simple financial order to be considered and even then the lawyers did not give us appropriate advice so more information was requested and held things up again. As for the lawyers he recommended, they are cheap for a reason - you get what you pay for. They are a waste of money - you will get things done quicker doing it yourself. It took months to submit an application and again numerous omissions and errors.

Ian is extremely professional to deal with as a divorce mediator in Perth. I have no hesitation in recommending his divorce mediation services if you are going through a separation or divorce. His mediation fees are affordable and much cheaper than using a lawyer.
