City of Canning

The City of Canning need to implement the three bin system (red, yellow and green color bins) that almost every other council implemented years ago! I l've lived in City of South Perth and City of Melville over the past 5 years and both had weekly recycling whereas Canning is still only do fortnightly recycling with the old 2 bin system. Give us our sin bins so we can use green bins for green waste instead. And extend the frequency of recycling to weekly instead of fortnightly! We used to have 2 rubbish bins and 2 recycling bins when I was in City of Melville and all 4 got emptied like clockwork every week.

Always been helpful and friendly in my dealings with them. Do a great job looking after the parks in the area. Ranger service is good - nice to have another set of eyes on the street.

We are a small business and we could not get a hold of them for a month! Called the land line number, never apologise. We have a business to run to support families, we not sitting around all morning reading newspapers. Take this review seriously and change how you deal with tax payers. Simply unprofessional.

Do you wonder why the canning council has been sacked twice. Here are some clues Last year I called them about trimming a verge tree overhanging my property. They had to come 3 times to the job. Mobilising 2 people along with vehicles and equipment. A complete waste of time on their part because they wouldn't listen or read the emails I sent. Obviously the maintenance crew are paid by the hour. I had to speak with 4 different people and it took me to email the mayor before it got sorted out. There is zero management and controls in the council at the moment. I signup up for AutoPay which did not work and after 16months they sent me a threatening letter along with $500 in late payment fees. Keep in mind that this is the first communication from them regarding billing for 16 months. Their billing department is completely disorganised. I really wonder how they are dealing with people struggling to pay. I would sack the whole billing and debt recovery group if it were me. I had to email the mayor again and his standard reply is " I have forwarded your intent and request to the appropriate staff. They will be in touch with you.". I presume his term is finishing soon as his care factor is pretty low as that is all I got. I think the councilors need another sacking to wake them up. Nearly $3500 per year in rates is absolutely shocking. And what do you get!!!!
