News April 2018. Judge Michael Gething found that Dr Hamza Amira had been negligent in attempting the vacuum extraction delivery while the baby was mid-cavity and without proper indication. He had failed to abandon the vacuum delivery after three pulls when birth was not imminent. Baby Cooper had been doing well during labour until the point Dr Amira decided to do an instrumental birth, using first a Kiwi suction cup and then a Silastic cup. “As soon as the instrumental delivery began, the CTG trace deteriorated dramatically and was grossly abnormal at all times until the baby was delivered some 30 minutes later,” Judge Gething said. “The fetal heart rate was grossly pathological and showed that the baby was unwell. “Dr Amira's pulling on the Kiwi cup was not gentle — it was sufficiently hard so that on the third pull, when the Kiwi cup came off, he stumbled backwards from the pulling.” “When Cooper was delivered some 30 minutes later, he was in a very poor state, with concerns that he would not survive.” The infant experienced intrapartum asphyxia resulting in various injuries, including hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy.

Very rude. His mobile rang in the middle of telling me I may need a CT scan because there could be a brain malfunction!! He answered the phone had a chat in another language. No apology after, just a where was we? And I’m paying for this service?
