The new museum is a great blend of the old and the new. The layout of the galleries is simple to follow and nicely presented. The content of each gallery is filled with interesting items that will keep any modern and even more recent history buff intrigued. I personally think there is a little too much focus on Indigenous items as I would rather see more natural history or settlement displays. All in all a great place to visit, just make sure you allow at least a good 3 hours to see it a properly. Well that is how long I am going to take on my 3rd visit soon.

The new museum is architecturally satisfying to look at outside and inside. It's really well laid out and has a lot of space. On the opening weekend crowds were really well controlled which made for an enjoyable and comfortable experience. Whilst the museum and exhibits were fascinating, I felt something was amiss. World history. No museum is really complete without some world history: Egyptian, Roman, Aztec, etc, etc. There were also slightly too many political aspects which could/should have been left out. The museum should be all inclusive and apolitical. Whilst the interactive screens at each exhibit/item piece was well thought out and really interesting with 3D models, I found it annoying that names of animals, plants, fossils, and the like were not within the exhibit next to the subjects behind the glass. If someone is 'hogging' the iPad/touch screen, you need to wait your turn to look up what it is you want to see the name of. Just a little bit backwards on that part. This is otherwise a great museum and well worth the visit with its renovations. Great job to all involved!

I always loved the museum before it's renovation and now it is even better. So many galleries to check out with interactive displays and very interesting content. No better place to come in WA to learn about all things Western Australia. There is even a gallery that is still to open. We only had two hours but I would recommend at least four hours to really get the full experience.

Booked our tickets for our first look. Only spent about 90 minutes as an overview for future visits. Especially liked the “Song Lines” exhibit. Great blend of new and old. Lovely to see Otto returned. Absolutely worth a visit but please plan for lots of walking.

Absolutely fantastic. It is thrilling to see that Aboriginal histories are finally being centred in our state's major museum. The museum strikes a great balance between Aboriginal, British settler and other migrant settler histories of our state. It doesn't shy away from the uncomfortable facts about the prevalence of slavery in our pearling and pastoral industries, as well as more recent histories of child kidnapping and slavery. At the same time, the museum centres our state's wonderful achievements and beautiful environment. Thank you museum for telling the truth and delivering it so beautifully! World-class historical work. Highly recommended.
