The Roast House Alkimos

Finally sat down at the Roast House for dinner for the first time since it opened. The place makes you feel at home. I was readily greeted by a wonderful lady who explained to me all options on the menu. I decided to go for the dinner option and chose the beef brisket and pork belly. I couldn’t make up my mind as to which sides to choose so she suggested I get a little of everything, and I must say that was a fantastic idea! The meats were cooked to perfection and the sides flavourful. Even my toddler enjoyed the delicious food. I will be returning for more as I thought not only the food and service were impeccable but the size of the meal made it a great money value as well.

Really very average. Lots of gristle on the roast beef. First occassion the young girl behind the counter was lovely, made up for the terrible ordering experience of being told I couldnt put a takeaway order in on the telephone and being directed how to use the terrible online booking system which turned out to be not working that day. The second visit a different lady behind counter could not have been more sour. A smile and politeness goes a long way. Food is average but nice to have the option of roast in the area.

Food was decent with great serving sizes, however the older white woman working there was pretty bitter and made it known to everyone in the restaurant while berating the chef very loudly, and making it known she was unhappy with the owners decisions on staffing levels (it wasn’t that busy and they weren’t under the pump). We also saw some pretty disgusting racism from her to a beautiful Maori family - they were the only people who had to pay for their meal before being served. This may be standard, but it was not on the night we were there as every white person paid after their meal and on their way out the door. We won’t be back because of this.

Food was great most of the staff were great except one she was rude continue to complain about everything and trying to rush other staff. She really put me off. But the young man that served me was very polite and was doing his best. On a small counter and trying to make up 3 meals and being pushed by that other lady and as he was trying to as or tell me how it all worked she kept interrupted and was very rude. But over all good food and mostly good service.

Great value for money and food portions are decent sized for kids and adults. Food speaks volumes alot of freshly cooked meats and additions.nnBeen 4 times since opening will go back for more.
