Very charming old town. Nice to have a stroll a round. Walk up to the castle and on the the walls. It gives quite a nice view on the town

A piece of ancient history resists the tooth of time, testifying to the stability of a country ...

The beautifully preserved gate of the former fortress.

Mandatory painting :-) The Banja Luka gate guarded the northern entrance to the town of Jajce. The building consists of a tower and a gate - the northern entrance to the city. There used to be a dry defensive moat in front of the gate. The thickness of the wall at the gate is 4.55 m. The gate gradually widens from the north to the south and their width on the north side is 3.21 m, while on the south side it is 5.50 m. The height of the northern entrance is 4.55 m, while the height on the southern side is 5.35 m. The gate today no longer has the original outer door frame that was once narrower and carried baglams for metal doors. This gate could be closed by a solid screen that was lowered by a lever. The lever opening was located between the second and third breastplates and is still visible today. The iron-chained door stood until 1906, when the gate was widened due to the introduction of wider vehicles. On the outside of the north door frame is an ornament-engraving of a warrior. It was drawn in the Ottoman era, according to the custom of that time. On the crown of the wall above the gate, busts were reconstructed on the basis of a preserved drawing from 1890, as well as on the remaining foundations of two busts. The walls with loopholes around the Banja Luka gate, but, at least in their substructures, and the tower next to the gate, have a part of the construction similar to the Bear Tower, that is. vertically stacked stone on the formwork.

A very atmospheric place, we walked with pleasure for half a day. The pearl of the city of Egg, along with a waterfall.
