A beautifully peaceful and gentle place. Recommendation unrelated to religion and nation
The parish church is a temple made of hard material and was built in 1861-1865. year, and the priest Stojan Stanković and his son Stevan took care of the construction. A sacred building 28 yards long and 14 wide was built, and it was covered with oak planks. It is said that after the approval to build the church, a delegation consisting of 12 people went to Istanbul. There was an inscription that speaks of construction and that mentions Metropolitan Dionysius and Sultan Abdul-Majid. The bell tower was added to the temple in 1879.
In World War I, the Austro-Hungarian army set fire to the archives and took away the bell that was used in the military industry. At that time, the library of the priest Jevrem Stanković, a well-known national preacher and educator, was set on fire. The new bell tower was built in 1935-1937. year, and a bell weighing 200 kg was procured in England. It is still used today. The temple was hit by a grenade in 1943, which destroyed the altar and the nave, and the entire bell tower remained.
The temple was renovated in 1963-1968, 1971-1976, 1999, 2009-2012. The dimensions of the current single-nave temple are 21.5 x 7.2 meters. The current foundations were consecrated in 1963 by priests Nikola Mandic, Stojan Stankovic and Ratko Jotic. It is built of small brick "unit" and is covered with copper. The renovated church was consecrated after the Second World War in 1968 by Bishop Longin Tomić. That renewal was hampered by the local communist authorities, and the pious people baked bricks next to the temple. After additional adaptation, due to the consequences of the earthquake that hit Banja Luka and its surroundings in 1973, he was consecrated again on October 3, 1976 by the Archangel Vasilije Kačavenda, the former Bishop of Zvornik and Tuzla. The last major renovation of the temple was in 2009-2012. year and the temple was consecrated on August 12, 2012 by the competent Bishop and Bishop of Vranje Pahomije. The original project was made by the project bureau "Slavonski Brod", the project of the last renovation was done in the project bureau DOO "Vukadinović" from Teslić.
The first temple on this site was built in the period between 1861-1865. The construction of the church was led by priest Stojan Stanković and his son Stevan. The construction was completed in 1865 and was consecrated on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by Bishop Visarion. It was large, 28 yards long and 14 yards wide, covered with oak planks.
For this church, people went to Constantinople with permission. At the entrance to the church, there was a plaque with the engraved inscription "With the permission of Emperor Abdul-Majid and with the knowledge of Bishop Dionysius." There are two legends about this event. One delegation of twelve people went to Constantinople for permission, and the other only a few people. The church did not have a bell tower, so it was built after 14 years in 1879. It was the first temple in this same place in Čečava.
In the First World War, the Austro-Hungarian authorities destroyed the archives of the church community and the school. The bell was removed from the bell tower and taken away for the needs of the war, where it was probably melted down to cast a cannonball. In 1935-1937, a new bell tower was built next to the church and a new bell weighing 200 kg was purchased from England. We still use it today. In 1943, in the Second World War, the temple was bombed, and on that occasion, the destroyed altar and the nave remained only a bell tower. After the war, the temple was renovated several times in 1963-1968, 1971-76, 1999, 2009-2012. The dimensions of the present temple are 21.5 * 7.20 meters.
The current foundations were consecrated in 1963. The consecration was performed by priests Proto Nikola Mandic, Stojan Stankovic and Ranko Jotic. On the Day of Savior in 1968, the renovated church was consecrated by the Bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla, GG Longin Tomić. Since this adaptation was done very unprofessionally and due to the lack of necessary material it had to be done again in the period from 1971-1976. years to start renovating the temple. That renovated temple was consecrated again on October 3, 1976. The consecration was performed by the archangel Vasilija Kačavenda as an envoy of Bishop Longin.
In 1999, a small adaptation was made on the roof of the temple, primarily the altar and the then bell tower on which copper was placed. In the period from 2009-2012. The general renovation of the temple was carried out and a new bell tower was erected, as well as the interior of the temple was completely changed with a new iconostasis and icons on the same ...
The church is 150 years old, the first church in and around Cecava that was built during the Turks.
