The legend that the fateful battle for Bosnia took place here - the clash between the Sultan's army and the Bosnian army of Duke Stjepan Kosača - is also connected to this place. In a fierce battle, the armies cut each other, so the toponym - "Cross section" was created. According to a folklore, here, a long time ago, wedding guests clashed and all in turn perished and turned to stone. A large tree of endemic beech - "Sad Beech" - with threaded branches that extend towards the ground in the immediate vicinity of the wall-bound necropolis, seems to testify to this tradition. The branches of the mourning beech (so-called "pendula") are long and distinctly drooping, the leaves are ovoid, and in autumn they become yellow or orange-brown. The sad beech is several centuries old, it breaks over time and regenerates itself. According to some folk beliefs, no one should do any harm to an old beech, damage it or cut it down, and anyone who tried to do so was met with a difficult fate.
