The construction of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tuzla was completed in 1882. The temple was built in Serbian - Byzantine style, and a very rich iconostasis and interior of the temple was built in 1910. Proposal of Announcement: At its last session, the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to extend the list of national monuments of BiH with five new goods. Two of the five buildings mentioned are located in Tuzla. These are the Cathedral Temple of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with movable heritage and the Palace of the Serbian Orthodox Zvornik - Tuzla Diocese. “What is more important is that this temple has the status of a cathedral meaning cathedral, which gives it priority, ie. First place in the diocese. So it is very important and important for the history and culture of not only this city, but beyond, as it is one of the oldest temples in our diocese. ” This historic building, with its movable heritage, together with the Palace of the Serbian Orthodox Zvornik - Tuzla Diocese have long been under the protection of the state, by the decision of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH. These buildings have multiple significance in the overall ambient image of Tuzla, said Mijo Frankovic, director of the Institute for the Protection and Use of the Cultural - Historical and Natural Heritage of Tuzla. “This is in any case a capital monument destination, because this facility meets all the essential criteria and conditions that valorize the monuments of the clutter to its fullest extent. These are first of all its temporal determination, its historical significance, the valorization of the historical moment in which the monument was created, then its artistic, aesthetic value, the peculiarity of details, the presence of several styles. ” The Episcopal Palace was built in 1914. Even before the war, this building was known for its exceptionally rich interiors and numerous exceptionally valuable icons and works of art. Due to the dilapidation of the building, many works of art had to be moved out of the Episcopal court in order to be saved from total decay. Both the church and the court have been waiting for restoration for several years, which, when such facilities are extremely complex, is also expensive. Now that the monuments are under the protection of the state, the state has a duty to take care of their restoration.
