Nature fresh air, beautiful view all the best
The church was built and consecrated in 1892. It is not painted, and the iconostasis was brought from Tuzla.
Church books have been kept since 1978, and all the older ones were confiscated by the state authorities after the Second World War. The old parish home was destroyed in the last war, and the new one was not built.
Local tradition says that the previous church was destroyed by the Turks during the first Serbian uprising. According to tradition, the church was demolished and the priests hanged, because they made cherry cannons for Karadjordj's insurgents.
The mention of the remains of the church in Rudište appears in the Schematism of the Mythoprolia of the Beaver-Bosnian from 1883. :
"Not far from the monastery there is a place called Rudište, in the municipality of Cikota, and there lie the ruins of an ancient temple of God, which was destroyed a long time ago, but according to tradition this monument has been preserved, that it was erected by Vukan prefect at the same time as Papraću Monastery. Now these current Orthodox Christians are trying to build a new church on the same ruins, and they have already started working on that. "
The then parish priest Jovan Popović really tried to rebuild the church with the faithful, but they did not go beyond the top. Only with the arrival of the new young parish priest Sofronija Čalmić, the enthusiasm and desire of the local Serbian believing people for the renovation of this church reappears. However, as the Serbian church in Vlasenica was being built at the same time, it was decided to start with the beginning of this church only after the end of the Vlasenica church. Indeed, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian source states:
On the day of the Savior in 1890. with the blessing of His Eminence Mr. Đorđe Nikolajević, and by the act of the Reverend Lord Todor Golić, the parish priest and the overseer of the Vlasenica archpriest and the honorable Mr. Sofronija Čalmić, the local parish priest, and in the presence of the parish people, the cornerstone of the future church will be solemnly laid and consecrated on the ruins so far. In this stone, which is placed in the middle of the wall and at the head of the altar, a monument is usually inserted, marking the time when the church was founded and to which saint it was dedicated, to which ruler, church leader, landlord. "
The construction lasted for two years, and Tomo Gužvić, Marijan Milaković, Jovo Bobar, Mitar Lazić and Petar Tasovac are listed as the most deserving people's councilors.
The temple was solemnly consecrated for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in 1892, in the presence of the bishop, with the participation of the district chief Salihaga Kurtagić, the rabbi of Vlasenica, Avram Altarac, and several thousand faithful Serbian people.
"There were also five or six respectable families from Tuzla, also from Zvornik, from Serbian Ljubovija and even from Sokolac. And there were - many claim - no more and no less than 5,000 souls.
The existing sheet metal roofing is significantly damaged by corrosion, so its replacement will be necessary in the near future. Otherwise, except for Ilindan or some other religious occasion (wedding, baptism ...) the church is locked. Considering that the whole area is prone to emigration, the fate of the church is very uncertain ...
For every Ilinden, August 2, here the people of this region gather here to celebrate the glory and to see their relatives and friends who have gone "bread for bread" into the white world. Nearby are stećci from the Middle Ages.
I'm thrilled
Small but very beautiful church. It is located in a beautiful place full of greenery.02.08 for St. Elijah is a celebration of the Church, which is known in the area and beyond.
