Peace, warmth, serenity ... is found in this house of God. The Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah is located at the entrance to Novi Ilijaš from the direction of Sarajevo.

There are fewer and fewer Serbs in Ilias, and after nearly 130 years of construction, the Holy Prophet Elijah Temple is the central place around which the remaining believers gather. The temple was built in 1891 with the contributions of a faithful people and at that time it was a magnificent building, which gave a picture of homeliness and dedication to the Church and the faith of the Illyrian Serbs. The first major renovation of the Temple was in 1967, when a great effort and dedication of local masters and donations of the faithful Orthodox people was done facade - says Tanovic. The Holy Liturgy was served in the Temple until the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement in 1996, when it was decided that Ilias belong to the Federation of BiH. After that, the exodus of the Serb population came to light, and the Temple was then set on fire by Muslim extremists ...
