Construction of the church of Sv. the great martyr Prokopius in Breza began in 1930. The land for the church was donated by retired priest Jovan Marjanovic. Metropolitan Dabrobosanski Petar (Zimonjic) avenged the church on Petrovdan in 1936. The Brezan parish was founded in 1940 from parts of the Ilya, Visoko and Parish parishes. Until this year, Birch and the surrounding villages were part of the Iliad parish. The parish had 300 homes at the time of its founding. The newly established parish had no permanent priest until 1972. It was served by the following priests: Branislav Ristic, diocesan clerk until April 1941; Jovan Marjanovic, retired priest from 1946 to 1949; Slobodan Radovic, parish priest of Visoko from 1949 to 1963; priests from Sarajevo from 1963 to 1971; Ranko Gunjić, Vareški parish magistrate 1971 The first permanent parish priest at the Brezan parish was Mile Racković from 1972 to 1992. At the beginning of the war in 1992, the Serb population of the Bezan parish mostly emigrated. During the war until 1997, Archpriest Miroslav Drincic, the parish priest, served occasionally in the church in Breza; from 1997 to 1999, the former Brezic parish priest Mile Rackovic; from 1999 to 2001 the Kakanj parish priest Boris Banduka and from the end of 2001 also the Kakanj parish priest Miroslav Vujičić ...
