The Jakub Pasha Mosque in Sarajevo was built in 1491 and demolished in 1936. Its dimensions were eight by six meters. It had a wooden minaret. Its builder Jakub-pasha was a Bosnian sandžak-beg. The mosque has been restored to its authentic appearance under the supervision of the Federal and Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Monuments. The most deserving for its restoration is Kasim Čeljo, the chairman of the Committee for its reconstruction, to whom the reis-l-ulema Dr. Mustafa Cerć ceded his right to open a mosque in view of the contribution he made for its reconstruction.
