Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a Serbian Orthodox church belonging to the Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla. It is located in Modriča, Republika Srpska. The construction of the temple began on May 10, 1914. The foundation was consecrated by Metropolitan Petar / Zimonjic of Dabrobosnia / June 28, 1914. The temple was consecrated in 1921. "The temple was set on fire by Muslims in May 1992, during the last Fatherland war and at that time only the walls remained. It has been completely renovated. The reconstructed temple was consecrated by the Bishop of Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla on October 26, 1997. "

The construction of the one-nave temple began on May 10, 1914. The foundations were avenged by Metropolitan Petro Zimonjic of Dabrosia on 28 June 1914 The 20 x 14 m temple is built of stone, covered with copper and has a dome and a bell tower with three bells. The temple was consecrated in 1921, but it is not known who performed the consecration. There is a legend that there was a temple in Modrica before that in 1841 in Srpska Varos, not far from the present temple. Possibly, if it was a log cabin. At that place, a stone temple was built in 1855 during the time of priest Djordje Popovic. This is a place you should definitely visit!
