A very imposing building. Located on “Titova” street. Very central, there is a tram stop in front of it. With the statues at the entrance, the whole thing looks very good. The building was badly damaged by Serbian riflemen etc. during the war. It is in good condition again today.

The Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2009 made a decision to proclaim the object a national monument. The National Monument is considered to be a movable property that includes seven art paintings, four old cash registers, an old wardrobe from the workshop of R. Tànczos, the bastion of Vladimir Peric Valter, two bronze figures at the entrance of the building and the bronze sculpture "Kupačica" located in the park behind building. The facility of the National Bank (Central Bank) in Sarajevo is in good condition ... As explained in the Decision on the designation of a national monument, the building has a great documentary value, considering the preservation of architectural elements, stone plastics and sculptural elements. Inside the building are preserved interior elements, such as mosaics and ceramics on the floors, stone staircases, interior joinery and more. Numismatic collections, art paintings and other objects are stored in the facility. The construction of the National (Central) Bank in Sarajevo began in 1929, at a time when most architects - creators related to Sarajevo were under the influence of modernity. The specificity of the project lies in the fact that the designer, Milan Zloković, managed to perform the work in the spirit of modernity, in accordance with his professional beliefs, although forced by investors to compromise, especially the southern facade, over which the "academic cloak" was pulled. the belated influences of historicism. In 1930, the conceptual design of Vladimir Zagorodnjik, the then set designer of the National Theater in Belgrade, was chosen for the sculptural treatment of the facades of the former National Bank. The author chooses neutral themes with unobtrusive but strong iconography expressed through one dominant motif (compass, chisel, boat), which in a symbolic sense corresponds to the purpose of the object.
