Beautiful piece of architecture
The interior is even more stunning than the exterior. A must see. The lavish stairs and decorations are breathtaking.
The beautiful City Hall (or Vijećnica) is located not far from Baščaršija on Mustaj-paša's square (or Mejdan) and is the most beautiful and most representative building from the Austro-Hungarian period built in the pseudo-Moorish style. It was designed in 1891 by the Czech architect Karel Pařík, but criticisms by the minister, Baron Benjamin Kallay, caused him to stop working on the project. It was initially the largest and most representative building of the Austro-Hungarian period in Sarajevo and served as the city hall. Building works began in 1892 and it was formally opened 20 April 1896, and handed over to the City Authority, which used the property until 1949, when it was handed over to the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war, the City Hall was severely damaged, but they managed to rebuild it with various donations. After being restored, the building, which is now a national monument, is used for various events, such as various protocol events for all levels of government, as well as for concerts and exhibitions.
Next to Miljacka in Sarajevo, nice place, orient for many important things. Inside I didn't get.
