A lovely, nice litte church in the middle of the city part Vareš-Majdan. The Church was built in the 1930's, between 2 world wars. The Church is rich in artwork. The Fresco of Saint Barbara above the Altar is a work of art by Josip Bifel. The Church has a choir and 1 old and 1 new church organ. There are 7 stained glass windows with different motives such as the one of Saint Francis, Saint Leopold Bogdan Mandić, Saint Michael... The Church has a nice small Sacristy where the Priests and altar server can prepare for the Holy Mass. The Altar is on a raised podium which makes it the focus centre of the visitors. There is also a Confessional. 1 Church bell is electrified and bells 3x a day, 7AM, noon and 7PM. Holy Mass are served Sunday's 9:30 AM and on special days such as Christmas, Easter, New Year day etc. Also there is a Holy Mass every 1st Friday in the Month where the faithful have a chance for confession half an hour prior the Holy Mass. In winter time the Holy Mass is at 4PM (the confession starts 3:30PM) whereas in summer time the Holy Mass is at 5PM (the confession starts at 4:30PM). There are no changes in Sunday mass. There is no Sunday Mass every 1st Sunday each Month. Also the church Yard is very nice, lots of flowers, a Plum tree, a Cross where you can light a candle. There is also a nice fountain and some benches where you can sit and relax after or before the Mass. The patron of the church Saint Barbara is celebrated 4th of December. I can only warmly recommend to visit this lovely little church and enjoy her beauty.
