Tabaci are craftsmen engaged in tanning leather, and their workshops are called tabhane. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there were about fifteen places with developed this craft. The presence of this craft was also recorded in the first half of the 17th century. Later, it developed, so a tobacco guild was established with the administration, headed by a master guild or ćehaja. Visočki tabaci also had its own flag with two sorrows, which is proof that this craft was very numerous. The exact year of construction cannot be specified, but it is assumed that it was built in the first half of the 17th century at the latest, when the tobacco guild strengthened it enough to acquire enough funds to build such a facility, as is the case in several other Bosnian cities. In addition to Visoko, Tabacs built mosques in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tesanj. The original mosque has been damaged several times throughout history, and the causes of its destruction were mainly fires, which engulfed Visoko at the beginning of the 18th century, and great floods. The last flood occurred in 1871 when the river Fojnica took away the tabhana and the stupa and the mosque. After the flood, in 1872, a mosque was built in its present form. [2] It was significantly damaged during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
