First of all, these imbeciles that are leaving a bad review need to learn how to read and communicate in general. I too reserved a car online from USA but I also read the terms of service that we all had to agree to when reserving obviously they never read them. It clearly states that you can pay for insurance right away or at the rental place upon the pickup. Here is the thing with all (not in USA) car rental places, they do not deal with third party insurance companies they have their own that is better and the same cost if not cheaper for you and they prefer that you use that insurance, here is why. In case of damage their insurance will cover the damage and you will not have to deal with anything. In cases of your own insurance you cover the cost of the damage and get refunded from your insurance, thus the amount lock on your credit card. First time I rented the same happened to me, once it was explained to me since we are human beings and use communication and not leaving bad reviews for a misunderstanding, I understood and decided that next time I will get their insurance, better deal, better coverage and I believe they have no deductible which online insurance has either $500 or $100 depending on the insurance company. Now, with that said I too did not get the car I was expecting but they gave me a free upgrade to an automatic vehicle for the same amount. Car was about a year old or less, had some dings and scratches as well as decent dent on the passenger side door (front). Everything was well recorded and agreed on the condition of the car. Gas was just over half full, I was told not to worry about having less or more when I drop it off because they will work out the difference with me, either charge me to fill it up or refund me if I have it filled more. Like I said all communication. Gas station is less than 100 meters from the parking going towards the city (North I believe) gas station is called something Petrol possibly Euro Petrol. Here is the thing though, every company the I've rented with in the past except Avis and Enterprise, this was my first time with Avis (not counting here in USA) I am very satisfied, I recommend it to everyone and yes, I'm talking about the Avis.in the Sarajevo airport, they were polite, quick to get my car and took their time checking the car and confirming with me about damage. I had no issues whatsoever, even mentioned to the guy there that they gave me the best and most professional customer service from the rest excluding Enterprise since I did not rent from them yet. I don't think that I will be renting from anyone else, I'm sticking with Avis and highly recommend them to everyone. Great job Sarajevo airport Avis, keep up the excellent work!

I read so many reviews about AVIS and at first I really didn’t want to rent from AVIS (SJJ). And I was looking for all other choices and in the end I had to go with them. I was really scared at first especially after reading all people’s reviews. However, when I arrived to SJJ airport and met the company, they where cleared in explaining all things that I needed and what choices to go with. They didn’t charge me any extra charges as what other people where saying. And I only took 5 mins to get the car from them. And when I returned the car I, they asked me to go and check in while they are checking up on the car and finishing up all paper works, to spare me some time. And the car that I got from them was brand new car and clean.

I made a reservation online in the US on June 2018. I arrived to pick up my car at Avis at the Sarajevo airport on September 17, 2018. The car that I reserved was not available so they gave me another car. When we reserve the car it was with the general insurance and unlimited mileage which is what we agreed to in the US. The agent there KENAN tried to scare us into buying additional insurance which we went back-and-forth and we stated we didn’t want that so he said OK will just put a hold on your Credit card in case something happens to the car until you return the car. The car was dirty inside and out and the light for gas was on we barely had enough gas to go a couple blocks to put gas in it So the agreement was signed with that understanding. Returned the car September 30 a day earlier. we returned the car clean and with a half a tank of gas. KENAN the agent was there again he was very in a hurry because he needed the car ran out to the parking lot with my husband to make sure car was OK he said just sign here and all The hold on credit card will be released. On October 2, 2018 when we looked at our credit card statement it showed a additional charge of $362 for insurance which is what we were talking about that we did not want. Beware when you go to Avis at Sarajevo international airport they will try and get you to get additional insurance which you do not need and that’s a scare tactic. Please do not rent from this company at Sarajevo international airport. We have rented cars in the United States and in Canada and have never had such a terrible experience like this. Thanks. This does not mean you should not go to Sarajevo it’s culture, history food scenic areas people and remember the fabulous 1984 Winter Olympics .

Worst car rental I ever had. They were dishonest from the first to the last moment. Stay away from Avis. 40 min wait. This place is heavily understaffed and the existing staff is working very slow.
